1906 Mfg. WINCHESTER 1892 Lever Action .357 Magnum
Classic Lever Action Originally in .25-20 WCF C&R
Description: 1906 Mfg. WINCHESTER 1892 Lever Action .357 Magnum Classic Lever Action Originally in .25-20 WCF C&R Here we present a Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle re-chambered in .357 Magnum from .25-20 WCF, made in 1906 in New Haven, Connecticut. Another fantastic design from the mind of John Moses Browning, the 1892 was made to replace the venerable and iconic 1873 and featured its pistol caliber chamberings. The result was a trim and light rifle that was an immediate hit and stayed in production from 1892 through 1938 and produced upwards to 1,000,000 rifles. The Model 1892 was first chambered in .44-40 cartridges, and in 1895 the 25-20 emerged. Many gun owners favored Winchester rifles for their ability to fire the same ammunition as their pistols, meaning that a cowboy, trapper or stagecoach defender could take along his trust rifle and pistol sidearm with only one supply of ammo! The Model 1892, like many other Winchester rifles, made a name for themselves in many notable Hollywood productions. She served as the firearm of choice to “The Rifleman” with actor Chuck Connors and was held in high regard by characters as portrayed by western star John Wayne. Winchester actually developed a 100th Anniversary John Wayne Commemorative Model 1892 Carbine as a collectible piece to the public. This one is made interesting by the fact that it has been professionally converted from .25-20 WCF to .357 Magnum. In the process, the barrel was shortened and the forward portion of the octagonal barrel turned down to round to create a barrel profile reserved for special order guns. Finally, this one has a Redfield adjustable peep rear sight and a Marbles front post. The caliber designation on the top of the barrel was struck and “357 M” stamped into the left side of the octagonal portion. This little rifle is effectively a carbine and handles very nicely and the 1892 action is quick. The overall condition is near fine. The refinished blue is 96%. The markings are clear. The walnut stock is in very good shape. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a venerable old Winchester that somebody breathed new life into. If you want something unique, here it is! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 20 inches. Caliber: .357 Magnum Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
