Antique 1892 Winchester Octagon Barrel 38-40 Excellent Shooter
Description: SOLD..Antique 1892 Winchester octagon barrel 38-40. Nice and very honest antique 1892 Winchester. Has the standard 24" octagon barrel. It is in the best shooting caliber 38-40 in my opinion. S/N 152164 and made in 1897. The bore is good with strong rifling but shows some roughness in spots from black powder. NO rings or bulges and no big craters or anything out of order. This gun is in excellent mechanical condition. It feeds, fires and ejects flawlessly. No backed out primers or bulged cases. It is still very accurate as these 38-40's are great shooters even with less than perfect bores. Hammer notches are perfect and positive. The markings are all excellent. The screw heads are all sharp and clean with most all of them looking like they have never been removed for 100 years. Still has the original front and rear sights. The metal is a great looking dark brown patina that has not been sanded on or messed with. Just a small spot of light roughness at the end of the muzzle that is hardly noticeable and certainly does not detract from the gun at all. Ther wood is very nice as well. The forearm has no splits or cracks and fits tight to the metal. Just minor dings but does have the letters WL scratched in the right side {see photo} The letter W is very light but the L is deeper. Some ole cowboy branding his Winchester is my guess. What's your's.?? Who knows.Iit is what it is. The butt stock is very nice with no splits or repairs but shows a small sliver out on the right side by the upper tang and receiver {see photo}.. Just some honest dings and scratches but nothing bad at all. This gun shows normal wear and tear as a used antique 1892 Winchester will show. Nothing real bad or any major issues but what is shown and mentioned. These antique 1892's are getting harder to find at reasonable prices any more. This gun shoots great and looks very nice as well. Is in a great shooting caliber with octagon barrel and priced right. $50 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 and leave a message with any questions or more photos. E-mail is probably the best way to contact me as I get so many tela marketers calls everyday I do not answer the phone BUT I do check all of my voice messages many times a day. Either way is fine. Please see mt other items for sale and check back oflen as I have many more to get listed. SOLD Antique: Yes |
