Antique WINCHESTER Model 1892 Lever Action .44-40 WCF SADDLE RING CARBINE
Icon Designed by John Moses Browning, Made 1897
Description: Antique WINCHESTER Model 1892 Lever Action .44-40 WCF SADDLE RING CARBINE Icon Designed by John Moses Browning, Made 1897 Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine chambered in .44-40 WCF, made circa 1897 in New Haven, Connecticut. Another fantastic design from the mind of John Moses Browning, the 1892 was made to replace the venerable and iconic 1873 and featured its pistol caliber chamberings. The result was a trim and light rifle that was an immediate hit and stayed in production for almost 50 years. Many gun owners favored Winchester rifles for their ability to fire the same ammunition as their pistols, meaning that a cowboy, trapper or stagecoach defender could take along his trusty rifle and pistol sidearm with only one supply of ammo! This would have made the perfect companion to the Colt SAA in .44-40! The Model 1892, like many other Winchester rifles, were popular when the television show “The Rifleman” premiered in 1958 starring Chuck Connors and producers tried to find gimmicks to distinguish one show from another. The Rifleman's gimmick was a modified Winchester Model 1892 rifle, with a large ring lever drilled and tapped for a set screw. The lever design allowed him to cock the rifle by spinning it around his hand. In addition, the screw could be positioned to depress the trigger every time he worked the lever, allowing for rapid fire, emptying the magazine in under five seconds during the opening credits. The overall condition is good. It wears an old refinish and has been restocked. The action is excellent. The bore is dim, heavily frosted, with worn but serviceable rifling. The stock is smooth and solid throughout. A chance to own what some consider the best lever action rifle ever made! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 20 inches. Caliber: .44-40 Winchester Center Fire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2200 #247318 Antique: Yes Price: $2,200.00 Buy Now Pay with ![]() Contact Seller |
