Winchester Model 1892 .32WCF (.32-20) – 1895, SUPERB 9/10 BORE, LETTER, vintage firearms
Description:
General Specs: Winchester, 1895, .32WCF, 6lbs. 15oz., LOP 12 13/16"
Serial Number: 90458
The Winchester Model 1892 is John Browning’s design that closely mirrored the venerable 1886 action but for the smaller handgun calibers that were made popular by Winchester. Initially made in .25 W.C.F. (.25-20), .32 W.C.F (.32-20), .38 W.C.F. (.38-40), and .44 W.C.F (.44-40). This handy little Model 1892 Winchester, sn90458 was built in 1895 as a Standard rifle, 24” round barrel, full length magazine, crescent steel butt, and steel nose cap and matches its Cody Firearms Museum letter. It arrived in Winchester’s warehouse July 1st, 1898, and shipped out January 31, 1899. This gun has been well cared for in its 131 years in existence spanning three centuries, retaining 98% factory barrel blue, about 93% action blue with 80% niter blue remaining on the loading gate, and the wood is in excellent condition with a scattering of field marks and most of its original factory finish. The lever shows 85% factory case color. THE MOST IMPRESSIVE THING WITH THIS MODEL 1892 IS THE BORE…MIRROR SHINY, SHARP AS NEW RIFLING, RATING AT LEAST 9 OUT OF 10! Most riflemen know that on an older rifle, the condition of the bore is what makes one rifle worth buying and another not worth having. Excellent bores shoot well. The action functions to perfection, all the screws are in excellent shape, the wood to metal fit is superb, and nothing needs to be done to this gun except take her out plinking or taking game. All parts are original to the gun, including the sights. The .32-20 in the Winchester rifle was a notably accurate round and very adequate for varmints as well. The ammunition is readily available. If you have a Colt Single Action Army in .32-20, you’d have an outstanding target combo too! This rifle is marked on the top tang “Model 1892” and was built well before that stamping changed to the abbreviated “Model 92”. A very worthy Winchester for your collection, affordably priced, and a gun you can have some fun taking to the woods on occasion. Thanks for looking!
