Winchester Model 1892 Carbine .25-20 W.C.F.
Description:
This 1892 Carbine chambered in .25-20 WCF was obviously loved by a previous owner and customized to fit a specific purpose. First, the factory sights were replaced by a Lyman front blade and rear peep sight and the saddle ring was removed. Next, some sort of sling attachment was added to assist in carying the gun afield. The wood was sanded and refinished to seal out the elements and the condition of the bore demonstrates the care that was taken to keep it in top condition.

.25-20 Winchester Center Fire Metal Condition:
Approximately 60% - 70% of bluing remaining on barrel and action with most wear showing at bottom of receiver and where the saddle ring (now missing) wore the finish on the left side.
The barrel shows marks from hammer hits below the front sight base fro Wood Condition:
Both stock and forend have been refinished and show evidence of coarse sanding.
There are two dowel plugs (approx. 1/8" diameter) spaced 1/2" apart that bisect the forend just forward of the barrel band.
Another similar sized plug is located on the bott Bore Condition:
