Winchester Model 1892 Rifle 32 WCF Sheard Marked Made 1909
Description: ** SALE PENDING TONY IN CALIFORNIA ** Listing and entertaining offers on this Winchester Model 1892 standard configuration rifle, caliber 32 WCF aka 32-20, having a 24" round barrel, full magazine, crescent butt with steel butt plate, plain trigger, plain walnut stocks, open sights, blued and case hardened finish. Serial number 498255 would have been manufactured and shipped approximately 1909. Interesting in two ways: 1. it has the odd "export" marking on the tang found in a very narrow serial range when both the barrel address and upper tang markings were being changed and the factory realized both lacked the model designation required for exportation, so the tangs were marked "Model 1892" across the upper portion. 2. The left side of the recevier is marked "FROM: W. F. SHEARD TACOMA WASH." in two lines, so this must have been a test rifle at the Sheard Sight factory. All metal surfaces are a deep aged blue with 75% coverage. The hammer and lever show hints of the original case colors. The action is smooth and the half cock safety functions properly. The fore arm is sound with no splits or cracks and tight to all metal. The butt stock has a long scratch on the left side and has a filled swivel hole in the bottom, otherwise is sound and tight also. Both stocks exhibit typical nicks and dings expected of a 100+ year old rifle that's been used. The front sight is a Marble 34W with white bead. The rear sight is an original Winchester semi buck horn with thumb print elevator. The bore is as new having been professionally relined, probably by Hoyt. All in all grades NRA Antique Very Good. Will make someone a nice shooter. TERMS: Shipping to the Continental US States will be a flat $50 with insurance optional and additional if requested. We are registered with the CA DOJ and will ship to California! No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii. Must ship to an FFL or C&R license holder (sales to New York City buyers will go to an FFL only, no exceptions). 3 day non-firing inspection period; buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, money order or personal check; all major credit cards are accepted with a 4% convenience fee added. Ships by UPS Ground with tracking. Always interested in Civil War items, as well as used long guns and used antique handguns so please contact me if you have anything for sale or trade. 315.251.4799 with questions or concerns.
