Excellent Winchester Model 1894 Rifle Made in 1899
Description: Serial #55202, .38-55, 26" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is a truly handsome, second year of production rifle that has retained 85-90% of the original blue finish, with fading along the edges of the frame, and silvering along the edges of the barrel facets. There is thin plum-brown freckling present throughout, as well as some minor surface scratches on the left side of the receiver. A good amount of the original color case-hardening remains on the lever and hammer with the balance faded to a mottled pewter gray patina. The walnut forend and buttstock are likewise in excellent condition with only some minor handling marks scattered about the original oil finish. The crescent steel buttplate has mild surface freckling throughout, but no pitting or rust. This is a very nice example of an early production Model 1894 rifle, with lots of original finish remaining, and is in excellent condition overall. FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
