Winchester Model 1894 30 WCF Extra Lightweight Takedown Short Rifle
Description: *** CABIN FEVER SPECIAL - FREE SHIPPING *** Winchester Model 1894 special order short rifle in the desirable caliber 30WCF, aka 30-30, one of the most popular hunting calibers ever made, serial number 534100 indicates 1910 production. Special order rifle in a scarce configuration, having the extra lightweight 22" round barrel with ramped front sight, take down frame, shotgun butt with smooth steel butt plate, and seldom-seen 3/4 length magazine tube (measures 16"). Equipped with plain walnut stocks, plain trigger, blued finish and case hardened hammer and lever, open sights. CONDITION: Mag tube 85% deep original blue. Barrel has 65% thinner original blue drifting to plum, markings still sharp and clear. Receiver has drifted to a light patina with 5% original finish remaining, with strong blue on the upper tang from a peep sight once present, now gone. Take down feature is tight with no wobble. Lever and hammer show 20% smoky case colors with the balance drifted to patina. Action is crisp, tight and sharp, with a properly working half cock safety. Fore arm shows expected nicks and dings from use, otherwise sound with no splits or cracks, and measures the correct 8 3/8" length common to the short rifles (1" shorter than the standard 9 3/8" found on standard length rifles). Butt stock also exhibits expected nicks and dings; retains the nice reddish Winchester color. Butt plate is crusty from being stored away damp. Bore is very good with sharp rifling, no rings or craters or bulges, a little dark in the grooves and should clean better, rated at an 8 of 10. Front sight is the original Lyman #28 semi-jack with slight loss of the bead; rear sight is a later replacement but is Winchester. Grades NRA Antique Very Good overall. Very scarce combination of features brings this into the super-collectible class. TERMS: Must ship to FFL dealer or C&R licensee.
