WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 SEMI-DELUXE RIFLE CALIBER 30 WCF
Description:
26 inch rapid taper pencil barrel with a half length magazine. Factory Letter indicates all features including pistol grip checkered plain walnut stocks with shotgun buttplate. Correct flip up Lyman rear sight as well as a tang sight and high rise Lyman front sight to accommodate the drop of the barrel. This pencil barrel measures less than 1/2 inch at the muzzle making it very rare as a true pencil barrel. Gun is in the early 26k serial range. Beautiful condition with vivid case colors on the hammer and lever. Receiver retains about 95% bright blue. Barrel retains most blue as well. Just a beautiful gun throughout. This gun was recently purchased from the Grandson of one of the individuals that accompanied Admiral Perry to the North Pole in 1899. It was said to be used to shoot seals and walruses to feed the crew. Inlaid on the left side of the forearm is a row of dots made from walrus tusks said to have been shot during this expedition. These have been inlaid well and don't take away from the gun's appearance. Included is a binder of information collected by the grandson. This is a beautiful 1894 and would be well worth someone researching the story further.
