Winchester Model 1895 40-72 Caliber (Rare Early Caliber)
Description: Here we present a stunning example of the Winchester Model 1895. The serial number 37466 indicates this particular rifle was manufactured between 1904-1905, making it an early example of it’s kind. The Model 1895 was produced from 1895 until 1932. This is a high condition unmolested example of an iconic rifle that was one of Teddy Roosevelt’s favorites. The mechanics are crisp as new, and the rifling is extremely good for a rifle over 100 years old. The wood furniture is in superb condition, and the overall patina is just beautiful, and it wears it well. Original bluing would come in very high with characteristic thinning but maintaining even coverage and an overall blue/gray/brown appearance. Screws are just like they left the factory with no scratching, scarring, or rounding. This caliber was one of Teddy Roosevelt’s favorites: 40-72 W.C.F….this is the rare earlier caliber! The Winchester Model 1895 was the first successful box magazine lever-action rifle. Designed by John M. Browning and chambered for the new high powered smokeless powder, the Model 1895 was suitable for any big game throughout the world. The box magazine beneath the frame created a unique look for this firearm. For payment we will accept personal checks, money orders, certified check or cashiers’ check, all major credit cards. Credit cards are acceptable with a 4% up-charge for processing. Personal checks require 8 business days to clear the bank, all other forms of payment receive same day as received shipment. Shipping and full coverage insurance will be an additional $100. You are responsible for any state and local laws. By purchase of this item, you release the seller from any liability that may arise due to use or misuse of this firearm.
