Winchester Model 54 22 Hornet Predecessor to Model 70 Pre War 1934 Nice Gun
Description:
Nice honest model 54 in desirable 22 Hornet. We are selling this fine old gun for about half of what an equivalent Model 70 in 22 Hornet would sell for. It is almost completely original except for the bridge which was d&t to accept a moder type scope base. The notch on the left side of the stock (for a Lyman receiver site) was factory correct as are the holes above it on the receiver. There is little blue left on the underside floor plate from being carried however overal the blue on the gun is in the 75 to 80% range. The checkering on the butt stock is worn but could easily be sharpened up by a capable stock man. The bore appears good as well.
The Lyman scope shown is no good. It is possible that it might be restored but it is not functioning as it is now and no value is being attributed to it. Put a modern scope on this venerable old gun and have some fun; plinker or woodchuck or coyote gun.
Only 2600 approx model 54's in all calibers were produced in 1934 and only some fraction of those in 22 Hornet.

Description:
Nice honest model 54 in desirable 22 Hornet. We are selling this fine old gun for about half of what an equivalent Model 70 in 22 Hornet would sell for. It is almost completely original except for the bridge which was d&t to accept a moder type scope base. The notch on the left side of the stock (for a Lyman receiver site) was factory correct as are the holes above it on the receiver. There is little blue left on the underside floor plate from being carried however overal the blue on the gun is in the 75 to 80% range. The checkering on the butt stock is worn but could easily be sharpened up by a capable stock man. The bore appears good as well.
The Lyman scope shown is no good. It is possible that it might be restored but it is not functioning as it is now and no value is being attributed to it. Put a modern scope on this venerable old gun and have some fun; plinker or woodchuck or coyote gun.
Only 2600 approx model 54's in all calibers were produced in 1934 and only some fraction of those in 22 Hornet.
