Description:
***SOLD***
An exceptional early style Winchester Model 54 in scarce 30 WCF (30-30) caliber.
S/N 21492A with matching scribed bolt made in 1929.
97% Blue and 98% Varnish over most with a bit more wear in the usual places of bottom metal and buttplate. Beautiful wood on this one, both in color and grain pattern.
This was the first of an eventual 2 standard rifle styles with its slender schnabel tipped stock and integral post front sight.
The barrel channel is clean with no bedding, routing, or other issues. The rear receiver bridge remains UNDRILLED.
All components are original issue including the beaded insert front sight, Lyman 66W 2 leaf (1 standing, 1 folding) rear sight, and original swivel studs.
The barrel is 24" with an excellent shiny bore and all mechanical functions are smooth and proper.
There were only about 50,000 Model 54s made in all calibers and grades, and of those, I would estimate that less than 20% remain collectible by any stretch of the imagination, the majority having been grossly modified. This one is especially hard to come by, being in the 30 WCF caliber and in such fine unaltered condition.
Please add $100 for expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska.
