This model 55 is the solid frame variation. Cal 30. Aged color on the receiver is a medium brown patina. On the left side of the receiver are the initials "SHPWS 554". Evidently some business or ranch. Good bore with strong rifling. Some roughness. This gun was evidently carried in some scabbard or boot because there is a strange wear pattern at the muzzle. Somewhat loose but functions okay. Wood is shy at the tangs and buttplate. A chip missing. This was sanded and oil finished. 55's tended to be used hard and this one falls in that category.
