VERY RARE Non-Counterbored Winchester Model 61 For Shot Only Mfg. 1951

Description:
Selling rare and fine Pre-64 Winchester's from a friend’s personal collection.  This is one of several that will be listed soon.

You are looking at an excellent condition, Winchester Model 61 (For Shot Only), Winchester Straight Thru Non-Counterbore Smoothbore, Mfg. 1951, caliber 22 long rifle, 24” round BBL, exceptional bore, smooth top receiver.  Has the correct 17 groove fore-end and checkered steel butt plate. 

This Winchester Model 61 (For Shot Only) is a Straight Thru Winchester Smoothbore with a No. 81 front bead sight and no rear sight.  The very rare straight-bore version noted by Ned Schwing's "Winchester Slide Action Rifles", Page 345.  He states, "It is possible that this straight non-counter bored smooth-bore variation may be the rarest smooth bore of all".  This would make it even more rare than the very rare and popular Routledge bore Model 61.

This beautiful Model 61 “For Shot Only” rifle has the correct Winchester proof marks.

Stock set is in excellent condition.  Bluing is fantastic on this rifle.
