VERY EARLY FIRST FULL YEAR OF PRODUCTION MODEL 63 .22 LR WITH 20" BARREL, #4XXX, MADE 1934.  The Model 63 was introduced during the worst year of the Great Depression in 1933. With such awful economic conditions gripping the nation, this was not a good year to introduce a fairly expensive .22 semi-auto model. Production in these early years was limited. For the first about 3 years this model had the short 20" barrel. In about 1936 the barrel length was increased to 23 inches. This example was made in 1934 and has the correct and scarce early 20" barrel with correct flat crown. It retains about all the deep barrel blue with excellent markings and small buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar and small blade/bead front sight. Similarly, the receiver shows excellent blue on the sides, upper tang and top with only some blue wear to the bottom by the serial number ahead of the trigger guard and some minor wear to the extreme forward portion of the raised receiver edges. Exc. stock and forearm showing only some minor wear to the finish. Good dulling forend cap blue, tight action and takedown, bright exc. bore. An excellent and rare 91 year old Model 63 variant. These don't show up often.
