Description:
Here we have a minty Winchester Model 70 "Classic Featherweight" bolt action rifle in .308 Winchester caliber. BOSS allows the shooter to tune the rifle to maximize accuracy for a given load. The Model 70 is an iconic bolt action rifle and it has gone through several iterations over it's lifespan. The rifle was originally produced by Winchester in New Haven, CT and production moved for a short time to an FN plant in South Carolina before the Model 70 production moved to Portugal. The “Classic”, this action was a return to the things that made the Model 70 famous. Featuring a full-length claw extractor, receiver mounted ejector, coned breech and controlled round feeding (CRF), the Classic had the look, feel, and function of its revered forefather. It wasn’t an exact copy, however, and actually offered several improvements over the Pre-’64 action. The ultra-reliable trigger and often copied 3-position safety that helped make the Pre-’64 Model 70 famous remained on the Classic Model 70.  This particular example is chambered in .308 Winchester caliber. This rifle is in outstanding mechanical and physical condition exhibiting basically zero handling marks and still has the original hang tag attached.  This Winchester is in mint condition. The 22" barrel has a mint bore with very strong rifling. The stock has handsome grain, sharp checkering and red rubber pad. The controlled round action is buttery smooth and sure. The scope base studs are still intact so it appears that an optic has never been mounted. The BOSS system allows the shooter to tune the rifle to a particular load. Being a featherweight this rifle has cut checkering and Schnabel fore-end. This fine USA made Winchester CRF Classic Featherweight would make a great addition to a collection or a strong start to a new collection. Box is included.
