Here we have a rare offering built by the PREMIER AMERICAN CUSTOM RIFLE MAKER D’ARCY A. ECHOLS in the late 1980’s and appears to be new and never afield. Built on an enhanced and D’Arcy refined Winchester Model 70 barreled action in the most desirable classic 7 x 57 Mauser caliber, the gun is without a mark anywhere on the wood or metal, no signs of use, no wear on the bolt handle or trigger. As you would expect on a D’Arcy Classic, the French walnut is stunning with the contrasting, smokey black mineral streaking through a background of honey colored walnut, grain running strong and straight through the wrist, bearing an ebony tip, a checkered steel buttplate, and a steel grip cap with “D’Arcy A. Echols Stockmaker” engraved to mark his work. The wood is mated to the action and barrels to perfection. Take note of the area around the chamber, bolt release, bolt handle, shadow line cheek rest, barrel channel, and checkered steel buttplate with widow’s peak and you will recognize why D’Arcy Echols is revered as the very best of stockmakers. He dedicates his work to no compromises in finished product, to only accurate shooting rifles, and he doesn’t call the work complete until the rifle shoots sub-minute groups and has no flaws or “fixed” mistakes…only perfection when it comes to putting the Echols name on a rifle. This rifle is mounted with Talley rings and a very appropriate Leupold VariX III 3.5 -10 x 40mm scope that presents as new…no marks or signs of use. For those in the know, the caliber 7 x 57 Mauser is soft shooting, accurate, and has a wide range of bullets available from 120 grain bullets to 190 grains. It was also known as the .275 Rigby, a famous elephant killer in the fabled hands of “Karamojo Bell”, a professional hunter in the stories of the African continent. Appropriate for most all North American game and a pleasurable classic to shoot. We have priced this rifle to sell, so don’t hesitate to own a most coveted D’Arcy Echols Classic rifle at an affordable price. See the specifications below. Thanks for looking!
