D2D has completed over 35,000 offerings during the past 22 years of business! We offer you a “High Condition” Pre-War Winchester Model 70 Rifle in .30-06 Manufactured in 1940. First off, this rifle has the original butt plate, not cut and a pad added like most. The rear bridge has not been drilled and tapped as most by now and the bolt handle has not been ground on. This Pre-WWII model 70 rifle is a one family owned gun and has been sitting in a safe for decades. It was cleaned up for the photos but might still show some grime here and there in the pictures. The rifle is 82 years and in excellent condition you can see. It is all original with no alterations to the wood or metal. The factory sight hood is still on the rifle but the rear sight was removed and in the slot is a blank marked “MARBLE”. This was done when the Lyman receiver sight was installed. The stock “WAS NOT” notched or altered when this was done. The stock shows light marks from use and sitting as shown. The metal condition is very nice with some thinning and wear but the bottom metal looking excellent which is not very often the case. The 24 inch barrel has a mint bore with no issues as you would expect. The left side of the barrel is marked “-WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL, - MODEL 70- WINCHESTER- / -TRADE MARK-” -.30GOV’T’06.". The left side of the barrel at the receiver and the receiver at the barrel are marked with a circled “WP” proof mark. The left side of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK-”. The right side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN USA WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / -NEW HAVEN. CONN. –PATENTED-“. The right side of the receiver’s chamber ring is marked “31926” which is also hand-scribed on the bottom of the bolt body. Many of our estate firearms have been stored for some time and a thorough cleaning and inspection are recommended. This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to your FFL for $65. It will be shipped in a double walled foam lined cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe. Payment to be made by USPS Money Order or Cashier’s Check.
