Winchester Model 70 SN# 418922 Made in 1958. Up for sale I have a Winchester Model 70 chambered for the flat shooting .243 Win. cartridge. The purchase of this rifle started with a conversation with Clarence Purdie, the owner of Gopher Shooter's Supply, at a local small bore rifle shoot. Clarence indicated that he received a shipment of the special sightless Model 70 Featherweight rifles he had ordered from Winchester. John, the original owner of this rifle , made the trip to Gopher's on a Sat. morning and picked this rifle from a small sample of guns Clarence had pulled from the warehouse. I can remember John telling me that Clarence said he wasn't sure how popular these guns were going to be as he had not had many people asking about them. As it turn out, the .243 and the .270 were the best sellers with .30/06 being a slower seller. Since leaving Gopher's in Faribault, this rifle has never been more than 42 miles away from that memorable sporting location. Of course, this rifle is all factory original with deep rich blued metal color to both the barrel and action. Please take some time to enjoy the excellent warmth of color of the walnut figure and finish of this fine Winchester collectable. Please take the time to ask any question you might have.
