Here we have one of the most desirable and useful of the PRE-64 Winchester Model 70 rifles, chambered in the awesome .375 Holland & Holland Magnum, the most popular African dangerous game rifle chambering.  In fact, most Professional Hunters require that your rifle be a minimum of .375 H & H for dangerous game.  The .375 H&H is inherently accurate and the long, gently tapered belted case is known for smooth feeding and extraction, critical when the game you are hunting can kill you!  The .375 H&H is also known for shooting to nearly the same point of impact with a variety of bullet weights at the practical distances this rifle is utilize for.  Here on the North American continent, this rifle can tackle any and all comers, including the big bears of the north, moose, and elk.  This pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Standard Rifle, sn433639 made in 1958, IS IN INCREDIBLE, FACTORY ORIGINAL, UNTOUCHED CONDITION, with 99.5% factory blue on all the metal, including the bolt handle, 99% factory finish on the wood with only one notable blemish (shown in the photos, if you want it to “disappear” like it was never there, my gunsmiths can make that happen for an extra cost.  Many want them untouched, as found, so the choice is left up to the new owner).  This gun may have never been afield.  THIS IS NOT A RESTORED RIFLE, BUT AN ORIGINAL MODEL 70, ready for you to put to use, likely for its first time.  The bore is mint, shiny mirror with sharp rifling and showing no fouling or erosion at the throat.  The stampings on the barrel and action are sharp and clear.  The front and rear sight are factory correct having the rear #70B roll over sight.  The bolt is pencil-etched with the proper serial number and the original sling swivels are intact.  It appears there was a scope mounted at one time, but there is not a single scratch in the action blue.  With a magazine capacity of 4 big rounds, it is THE dangerous game rifle.  The pre-64 Winchester Model 70 has become an icon in American rifle making, with the controlled-feed Mauser style action, crisp trigger, and legendary accuracy and reliability, and the collecting fraternity cherishes the opportunity to own a minty, high-condition Model 70 like this one.  The .375 H&H is a relatively scarce caliber for the pre-64 M70, comprising only 2.41% of the total production.  The values continue to climb, and examples like this one are seldom seen.  We have priced this rifle to sell, and you will not find another comparable in the marketplace today.  Thanks for looking, and don’t let this one get away!  Call now to make it yours.
