Winchester transition era Model 70 custom bolt action rifle chambered for 10.75 x 68.  One of the most popular bolt actions ever, the Model 70, is known for its smooth action, controlled round feed and quality of materials and machining making it perfect for the basis of custom rifles.  This transition action, circa 1947-48, still has the cloverleaf rear tang but it also incorporates the classic Winchester 3-position safety and mounted on top are Leupold QR bases.  The trigger breaks crisply at 2 ¾ lbs.  Standard Winchester hinged floorplate with magazine holding 3 and one in the chamber.  Although the name of person(s) who built this gun are unknown it is never-the-less a fine build.  To the Winchester action the 24” Pac-Nor barrel was fitted, chambered in 10.75 x 68 and embellished with a standing rear sight and a front sight with brass bead and a perfect bore.  The stock was selected from a nice, handsome grained, strong piece of walnut, glass bedded for the action, recoil lug installed, fitted with inletted sling swivels, a shadow line cheek piece, right hand palm swell and an ebony forearm tip; 14” LOP over the 1” Pachmayr presentation pad and handsomely checkered and finished in a satin caramel color.  The rifle comes with four (4) boxes of factory, RWS ammo.  347 grain round nose.  Very nicely fit and finished; 98%+ overall.  7 lbs. 10 oz. Great rifle for your nest safari.
