** SOLD ** Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Bolt Action in .458 Winchester Magnum Caliber **Jeweled Bolt and Follower - Inlet Rear Sling Stud**

Description:
For consideration is a Winchester Model 70 Super Grade rifle in .458 Winchester Magnum caliber. The Winchester Model 70 is a bolt-action sporting rifle. It has an iconic place in American sporting culture and has been held in high regard by shooters since it was introduced in 1936, earning the moniker "The Rifleman's Rifle". The action has some design similarities to Mauser designs and it is a development of the earlier Winchester Model 54, itself being based on a Mauser 98-type action. The Model 70 was originally manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company between 1936 and 1980. From the early 1980s until 2006, Winchester rifles were manufactured by U.S. Repeating Arms under an agreement with Olin Corporation, allowing USRA to use the Winchester name and logo. Model 70s were built in New Haven, Connecticut, from 1936 to 2006. This particular example is from the push feed era. The rifle has signs of use and handling marks mostly on the stock. There are some marks on the metal components but nothing serious. Though not a pristine collectable this rifle would make an excellent field gun that would not need to be pampered. Being of the "Super Grade" trim level it has nice custom style features like ebony forend, gold type on the floorplate, inlet rear sling mount and barrel banded sling mount up front. The safety is a 3 position wing type that allows the rifle to be unloaded while still in a safe condition. This Model 70 Super Grade would make a fine field rifle for the biggest of game.
