Fine lst year (1955) Model 88 is in excellent overall condtion. The metal is as new, we think the wood has been refinished but the checkering is free of any finish and is super sharp. It ha a recoil pad. The stock measure 13 to end of wood before the pad, the 1955 Shooters Bible provides that the LOP would have been 13 1/2, whiich if it had the (these are easily found) stock plastic butt plate would make it 1/4 " short approx
We have owned 88's since the 60's and they are among our favorite lever guns,known for excelent accuracy and good looks with the graceful curved lever. Fast followup shots are possible without taking youre eye ouf of the sight / scope picture.. This gun comess with an excellent Pachmayer swing away mount...it simply swings out of the way should the scope become fogged or clogged with snow so that a shooter has instant access to the open sights without changing the point of impact on the scope when it returns to the closed positon.
Barrel is 22"
We have many good used socpes that would go perfectly with this fine rifle.
