Winchester model 07 Police & Prison rifle (1957)
Description:
This is a near mint Winchester 351 cal. self loading rifle from 1957. The early self loaders in the Winchester line were based on a Johnson patent that operated on a blow back principal. This particular rifle was produced near the end of the 07 production, and is of the beefed up design for more rugged use by Police and Prisons. These guns had thicker forend wood and a heavier butt stock, with a steel buttplate. They were fitted with sling lugs and an easier to use finger loop on the charging rod. Often times you will see the prison version with a 10 round mag. as opposed to the standard 5 round found in this package. This example is as nice as you could hope to find,( short of new in the box). The metal surfaces, barrel script, proof marks, serial number, ect. are crystal clear and totally original. All blueing is strong and original at 99%. Stocks have their original finish in great shape, with only minor handling marks to the surface. The bore is mint, with strong rifling. The magazine fits snug and shows only light use. A great piece to accent your collection. $1850 plus $50 S&I. Postal money order to lower 48, will discuss Cal. sale.
