The Navy carbine. US marked on the bbl with the proof over the Navy anchor. Also has other military inspection marks. This is an 1879 first model. Bbl is mostly grey in color with orig military ladder sight. Most aging blue remains on receiver. Serial number is just over 2500. Stock is in pretty good cond for a Hotchkiss. Numerous marks and scratches. As with most of these Hotchkiss there is a repaired crack on the left. Nicely done. Likely had some oil added at that time. Some age shrinkage at the toe. Near excellent bright shiny bore. Good action. Cal is 45-70. Good looking old Hotchkiss!
