#4612 Winchester 1866 OBFMCB, early Second Model
Description: #4612 Winchester 1866 OBFMCB, early Second Model with the very desirable Henrys Patent address, 20XXX (late 1868 or early 1869), 44RF with typical black powder bore being dark and dirty but visible rifling the full length (not that anyone will be shooting a 44Rimfire!). Smooth thin brown patina on barrel and magazine, very minimal light freckle pitting, and decent but lightly rolled barrel address. The rear sight has been restored to its original position and the dovetail plugged many years ago; barely noticeable (see photo). Mellow brass frame, buttplate, and forearm cap. Factory sling swivels, Henry style rear ladder sight, and complete with cleaning rods in the butt compartment! Decent original standard wood, but does have a chip at the toe of the butt stock and a repaired sliver at one upper tang. The cartridge elevator has been beat up by some frustrated previous owner when the elevator became gummed up after shooting several messy black powder rounds. (This is a very common damage done to these early repeaters). Handsome and very early ’66 and one that is getting VERY hard to find in ANY condition and this Henry addressed Winchester obviously has had good care over the last 146 years. There are a lot of pictures of this neat old rifle (about 26 in all), so if they all do not load up, be sure to e-mail me and I’ll forward them along to you. VG/VG+ $10750 SOLD Antique: Yes |
