#4812 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB early Third Model 44WCF, 118XXX range (1883 mfgr).
Description:
#4812 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB early Third Model 44WCF, 118XXX range (1883 mfgr). Smooth tight action, G+/VG bore, being about a 6-7 on a scale of 10 and while it does not having any major pitting or deficits of mention, it does have some lead build-up on the lands and scale in the grooves. It looks like it should clean quite a bit better with a little work. Markings are mostly very good with the exception that some previous owner with the intellect of a bag of cat litter saw fit to scratch off the “Model 1873” on the upper tang. It also has the desireable medium-heavy barrel and is early enough to not have the caliber markings on the barrel or elevator. The VG wood shows just the average wear, dents, and bruises, but no slivers on either the buttstock or forestock. The metal has about 80% coverage of nice smooth plumming blue-brown on the barrel and the the frame has some serious good blue remaining as well. Original dust cover, pinched blade front and rear buckhorn barrel sights. Overall, this is a very decent early 1880s Winchester and except for the rear upper tang markings being obliterated it has an overall VERY handsome appearance. About VG+ as described. $2295
