1866 Winchester 26-inch Barrel. 44 rim fire caliber
Description:
Winchester 1866 4th model from 1881. 44 rimfire caliber with factory 26 inch round barrel; standard was 24 inches. With Factory Letter. "King's improvement patent." "March 29, 1866." Brass crescent butt plate and steel forend cap. Serial #154824. Solid '66 Winchester with a lot of frontier use. Marking on the barrel. J.P. Lower Denver, Colorado (A little tough to read). Worst thing about the rifle is a small repair of the brass frame on the right side, otherwise in good shape. Wonder about that story. Best thing is the wear at the balance point, worn smooth from miles of riding on the saddle on the front of a horse. "Winchester Repeating Arms. New Haven Connecticut." Blade front sight. Buckhorn rear sight. Grey barrel, no finish. It has a dove tail for a rear sight. It's an inch and a half up from the action. A few pits up around the end of the barrel. Not a great bore, but not terrible either. Stock is in good shape. Screws are in good shape. Overal in very good condition.
Reasonable offers will be considered on all listed guns.
