EARLY WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 FLATSIDE SRC WITH HENRY MARKED BARREL
Description:
20 inch standard carbine configuration chambered in 44 Henry RF caliber with some shine and visible rifling. Sights include a blade front that is integral to the front barrel band and a two-leaf rear. Barrel and full length magazine tube are a brown/gray color. The desirable two-line Henry and King's patent barrel address is very faint but still visible. Early production flatside brass receiver has a nice mellow appearance and shows evidence of having been cleaned with something abrasive with a couple of deep scratches on the left side plate. Flat loading gate has traces of blue. Saddle ring is present. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock have been re-varnished and look good with a small chip at the upper tang and some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. This is a first year of production Winchester carbine made in 1866. Not a bad looking hard to find First Model carbine.
