RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION MUSKET IN CALIBER 45-70
Description:
Blue Book of Gun Values says about 350 of these muskets were produced making this a very rare gun. Features the standard 30 inch round barrel chambered in 45-70 caliber with 2-line address. Bright bore displaying sharp rifling throughout. Barrel retains nearly all of its original factory blue with some light freckling. Blade front sight and military ladder rear sight. Case hardened receiver is stamped "MODEL 1886" on the tang. Crisp tight action. Factory letter copy states it was shipped as a musket in .45-70 September 20, 1893, on order 24059 with 24 other 1886s and ".45-70" markings. Full-length walnut forend with steel nose cap. Straight grain walnut stock with rear sling swivel and steel trapdoor butt plate.
