Description: SCARCE Antique Winchester 1885 LOW WALL .25 Rifle Made in 1889 & Chambered for .25 Rimfire Here we present an antique Winchester 1885 Low Wall Rifle, manufactured in 1889 in New Haven, Connecticut. Ironically, this was Winchester’s first single shot rifle, the company having been founded on its winning lever action repeater design. John Moses Browning, the famed gun designer who forever changed the firearms landscape, began his career with this rifle in the 19th Century before dominating the world scene in the 20th Century. This Low Wall Rifle features a #1 weight 26-inch octagonal barrel chambered for the scarce .25 Rimfire cartridge. The top of the barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO/NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.”. The rear of the barrel is marked “.25 R.F.” The overall condition is near fine. 80% of the original blue finish remains. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is in great shape. The bore is bright and sharp. The action on this rifle is excellent. Here is a sharp little rifle for your collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
