VERY EARLY FLATSIDE 1895 IN RARE .40-72 CALIBER, #8XX, WITH CODY MUSEUM LETTER
Description: VERY EARLY FLATSIDE 1895 IN RARE .40-72 CALIBER, #8XX, WITH CODY MUSEUM LETTER. The letter verifies the features of this rifle and states the serial number was applied on July 16, 1895. It also states the rifle was received in the warehouse on October 21, 1896 and shipped on October 23, 1896. Receiver and barrel are basically silver/gray with little to no blue. All markings are fine. The stock shows some fancy grain with tight wood to metal fit. Fine forend with correct ebony wedge inlay in the tip. The action is tight and the bore while a little dark shows fine rifling all the way through and any roughness or corrosion is minimal and ought to scrub out excellent. Buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and small blade/bead front sight. All early flatside receiver 1895s are rare and one like this in .40-72 caliber is doubly so. SOLD Antique: Yes Rifle Caliber: .40-72 Winchester Manufacturer: WINCHESTER Model: 1895 FLAT SIDE Serial Number: 8xx Barrel Length: 26 Condition: good Bore Condition: FINE+ |
