An absoluteley beautiful 2nd model 1873 chambered in 44 WCF (44-40) caliber. Second model 73's are rare as only 60,000 were made as compared to 600,000 3rd models. This rifle is in high condition retaining most of it's original deep blueing. The 24" barrel is round with the George Madis book stating only 1 in 6 came with a round barrel as the octogan was standard. The metal is excellent with sharp corners and no wear or pitting. The wood is also in excellent condition with only light handling marks and never sanded or refinished.The wood to metal fit is tight and proud. The bore is in excellent, shiney condition with sharp rifleing and no pitting. Action is smooth and tight. The barrel address is perfect and ther are no caliber marking on the barrel or carrier block which is correct for early model 73's chambered in 44. It also comes with a very rare Lyman "W" tang sight marked "PAT.JAN 20/72 and is very legible. All screw slots are excellent and appear mostly unturned.
