Description:
This is outstanding Winchester rifle made in 1876. The rifle is a Deluxe with a checkered butt stock and forearm. The walnut has sunburst and feather along with crisp clean checkering with some flat spotting on the bottom of the forearm where is set in a display rack for 50 years, the forearm cap has a sling swivel and is engraved and nickel finished. The barrel is a 24 inch mid-weight octagon with a nickel finish and factory sights. The nickel on the barrel and mag tube has a little yellow color and is worn in some areas as can be seen in the pictures. (The rifle is much better in person then in the pictures) The receiver is nicely engraved and has a deer on the left side-plate and looks correct. The scroll engraving on the receiver, forearm cap, top of the butt plate, top of the receiver, bottom of the receiver, upper and lower tangs looks right. The dust cover is the correct thumb print style and has nice engraving. This is a first model rifle made in 1876 and shipped from the warehouse on April 5th 1877. The bore is very good with just a touch of very minor pitting. The rifle comes with a 4 piece cleaning rod in the butt stock that is also nickel plated. This outstanding antique Winchester has a set trigger that is not engaged at this time. This is an Antique and can in most cases be sent to your home address.
