Winchester 1873 Deluxe Lever Action
Description:
Offered is an 1873 Semi-Deluxe model Winchester Lever Action Rifle. The gun is a 44 Cal (44-40) and is in excellent condition with aproximately 85% of the blued finish remaining. The stock and forend are hand checkered at 16 lpi (rare) and bear a lovely full finish with no cracks or chips. There is a crack line on the left side of the stock, but it does not appear to go deeper than the finish.
Mechanically, the gun is perfect and cycles easily without resistance. All original parts are present with only very slight maring to some of the larger screws.
There are no gouges or scrapes to the metal surfaces that display a deep blue though dulled finish. The heavy (.800) octagon barrel is clean with a smooth muzzle and a bright clean bore.
The weight of the barrel is reflected in the overall 8lb 2 oz weight of the gun. There is no cleaning rod in the stock commpartment, but the brass cap slides easily.
This is the nicest model 73 I have ever seen,
That beling said, I believe the gun has been refinished sometime well back in its past. There are two very small pitted marks under the finish just in front of the duct cover and the finish is just too nice to be 120 years old, even though it is a deep dull blue indicating age. This would make a very nice addition to any collection or an outstanding shooter for anyone.
