Winchester 1876 Time Machine 45-75 Made in 1887
Description:
Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are way proud to offer this stunning example of Winchester's first large frame lever gun, the Centennial Gun. Give a man a gun, and the next thing he wants is a more powerful gun. Thus, the evolution of the 1873 led to the larger 1876. Introduced during the celebration of our first 100 years, it was well received. As America moved west, the spaces became larger and the need for longer shots on bigger game grew. This fine lever gun was made in the year of our Lord 1887, and will ship directly to your door. If we could go back to a hardware store that year, this is much what one would look like on the gun rack. Despite being 133 years old, she is in great shape. The blue is deep and lustrous, and the lever and hammer bear generous amounts of case color. The action is crisp and smooth, and even the bore of the 28 inch octagonal barrel is bright with sharp rifling. The walnut, dare I say, is 2X and has only minor handling marks. The hammer knurling is crisp, and the half cock safety works as designed. The stampings, including on the brass lifter, are sharp and clear. These big rifles were a relatively short run, eclipsed by the model 1886, and they hold their value well. Even the "one shade of brown" guns routinely fetch well over 3000 dollars. If you are looking for the right 1876 to collect, for investment, or for a nostalgic hunt, but want it to look like new, then look no further.
