Description:
This Winchester 1886 was manufactured in 1894. It is chambered in .45-90 Winchester and has a 24-inch barrel. Being an antique, this rifle came with a case-hardened receiver. This is an excellent example of an unaltered antique rifle for those looking to fill their .45-90 slot in their 1886 collection.
Metal condition shows consistent wear all the way around with no signs of anything being replaced or altered. Magazine and action lock up tight. The hammer has significant spring tension.
The rifle's stock has not been sanded or refinished in any way. It is in very nice condition, especially when considering its age. The wood-to-metal fit is tight. The stock has a very low amount of handling marks, with the exception of an indentation approximately 1.5" long on the left side of the buttstock near the heel of the buttplate. There are no cracks or extra holes. Nothing undisclosed.
The rifle's bore has shine with clean, defined rifling, but shows wear consistent with the black powder era. Bullet test shows muzzle is exhibiting very serviceable lack of erosion as seen in pictures. We used a 300 grain cast bullet designed for this rifle.
We make hard cases for rifles such as these available for $30 to further protect from shipping.
