Description: *** PRICE REDUCED *** This beautiful M-1873 is chambered in the desirable .44-40 Cal. with a 24” octagonal barrel. The bore looks like NEW, bright and sharp. The moving surfaces of the action show little wear. This rifle has seen little use and has been carefully stored for the past 123 years, It is just remarkable.The barrel and magazine tube retain about 95% original blue with sharp edge wear and some very fine pinprick surface corrosion that cannot be felt. The receiver has about 95% original blue with scattered fine pinprick corrosion and some very minor scratches on the left side. The hammer shows beautiful original color case colors while the lever has faded case hardening. The fore-end and buttstock are in wonderful original condition. The fit remains perfect, suggesting it has never been removed. The color is perfect, and the original varnish appears to be 100% intact. There are a few minor dings on the fore end and a few very minor scratches and minor handling marks on the buttstock but nothing detracting to appearance. This is a remarkable survivor, a beautiful rifle. It is completely original both in configuration and finish. It was manufactured in 1888 and has a perfect bore and tight action. The four-piece original cleaning rod is provided, stowed in the butt. This is unquestionably a blue chip investment grade Winchester rifle that would be an excellent addition to the finest Winchester collection. .44-40 Cal. with a 24” Octagonal Barrel.
