Winchester Model 1866 Lever Action Saddle Carbine
Description: Winchester Model 1866 lever action saddle ring carbine. 20” round carbine barrel and period barrel band sight. Two position flip-up rear site. Brass frame is leaf engraved on both sides. Left side features signature “W.A. RENO ENG”. Oil finished wood stock and forearm, the latter being a possible replacement. Heavily frosted bore with fair rifling. Mechanically functioning. Rifle appears to have been refurbished at the time of engraving with the barrel patent stamps, and lower tang serial number being restamped. The serial number 155,500 is correct for this model; however, the barrel was incorrectly stamped with the Henry’s Patent/ King’s Patent markings. Manufactured in 1881.
