Winchester Model 1894 Full Deluxe Extra Lightweight Short Rifle with Cody Verification
Description: *** CONSIGNMENT ITEM, ALL PRICES OFFERED MUST BE APPROVED BY CONSIGNOR - LISTING A SMALL PORTION OF A LOCAL COLLECTOR'S COLLECTION *** Winchester Model 1894 Full Deluxe Extra Lightweight Short Rifle with Cody Verification, serial number 90299 made 1897 per the published Madis serial numbers, which is what the ATF goes by to determine antique or C&R/modern status despite Cody records showing manufacture and shipping in 1900. This rifle sports 12 special order features per the verification sheet - round 24" barrel (2" shorter than standard), extra light, checkered stock, pistol grip, special front/rear/tang sights, 1/2 magazine, shotgun butt with rubber butt plate, takedown frame and oil finish. The plain trigger. blued finish, and typical rifle length fore arm are standard features. Caliber is 30 WCF aka 30-30 Winchester. CONDITION: All metal surfaces have a high-quality, professional restoration with only very minor wear and light wear to the serial number and upper tang address; no extra holes in upper tang when sight is removed. Checkering is still original, not freshened. Take down feature is tight with no wobble. Tang sight is marked "S" for the Winchester 1885 Single Shot model, so it has been changed out. Beautiful fire grain XXX walnut stocks are in excellent condition, having a later layer of varnish added during the restoration, with some usage marks and a small chip lower left of butt stock. Butt plate also chipped there, otherwise intact and original. Assembly numbers match on lower tang and upper inletting of butt stock. Excellent, bright, shiny bore with sharp rifling, light wear, no pitting, no rings or bulges, a 9 of 10. Action is crisp with a strong hammer spring and properly working half cock safety. This is a beautiful example of an extra light full deluxe short rifle that if in original condition with this much finish would bring 15K to 25K; can't turn back the clock and figure out why it was restored as there's no signs of pitting underneath the new blue, so asking price reflects the current condition. Cody sheet will be provided with rifle. TERMS: Per ATF rules, this rifle is antique by serial number and can be shipped directly to you assuming your local laws allow it.
