Description: VERY UNUSUAL 1885 TAKEDOWN HIGHWALL RIFLE IN .30-40 KRAG (.30 U.S.) CALIBER, CODY CALL-IN SHEET, #108XXX, MADE 1909. This one is also fitted with a period 18" black enameled brass scope. the scope appears unmarked except for "50 ft" and "200 YDS and Over" "X-8" stampings behind the front adjustable lens. It has a post reticle and has fair clarity- needs a good cleaning. The Cody info. lists this one as having a No.3 weight 30" round barrel, takedown and plain trigger and 30 Gov't caliber. It further states that the serial number was applied October 1, 1909. This rifle was received in the warehouse June 6, 1910 and not shipped until January 27, 1912! It has a fully functioning single set trigger that may have been factory fitted and just not mentioned in the records. It has a blade front sight and a filler in the rear sight dovetail. Stock and forend are excellent and show light handling only. The forend has the correct ebony wedge inlay in the top. Fine barrel blue shows some light scuffs and has sharp makings. The receive similarly show fine blue with light wear/scuffs. Still some case color on the upper portion of the lever, tight action and excellent bore.
