Winchester High Wall Model 1885 40-65 Caliber - Modern Custom
Description:
This Listing from a Family Collection of Shooting Sports Enthusiasts is a Winchester High-Wall 1885 Rifle with a Late 20th Century Custom Pistol-Grip Target Stock and 26-Inch Heavy/Tapered Target Barrel with Recessed Crown in 40-65 Caliber (40-65 Winchester). The receiver and hammer have been polished and blued, leaving the breechblock and finger lever with their original patina. A Lyman 57 Long-Slide Target Sight is mounted on the right side of the receiver; a Lyman 17-Series Globe Sight sits in a dovetail cut behind the muzzle – which also has two drilled & tapped holes for a sight base (filler screws in place). The Barrel has a Recessed Target Crown and is unmarked. The bore and rifling appear bright and like-new with sharp lands & grooves. Apart from the Patent Date on the lower tang, the receiver is unmarked with No Serial Number. Wood appears to be Dark Straight-Grained Walnut; the plain, smooth Pistol-Grip Style Buttstock has a prominent Roll-Over Monte-Carlo Cheekpiece and sports an “Old English” brand Recoil Pad with Black Spacer. Wood to metal fit and other condition features are best judged from the photos – so please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations. Any refunds will be minus our actual shipping cost and FFL fees after buyer pays return shipping. Payment is by Money Order, Bank (Certified) Check or Personal Check (held 2-3 days). We are not a dealer, and cannot handle credit card or electronic payments. This item is subject to prior sale.
