Pre-War Winchester Model 70 30-06 Scoped, NICE! ca1942
Description:
This was one of the last before the war shut down Sporting Rifle production. Not a "New with Hang Tags" rifle but in VERY presentable shape, and mechanically superb inside and out. Bolt # matches receiver, bore and chamber are excellent, scope is still very clear. Thats a Stith Kollmorgen 4x fine crosshair on a Redfield base. blue rates an easy 95%, perhaps higher. Wood is crack-free, great checkering, and retains much of the factory varnish finish. Recoil pad is hard, and could stand getting replaced. pull is 13-1/2" over the pad. Action is smooth and slick, trigger is crisp, and the early style safety functions just fine. Front sight is a Redfield "Sourdough" unit, which helps tell the story of the aging of a previous owner: Recoil starts to hurt, put a pad on it. Can't see the front sight too well, so get a Brass Insert unit (the Sourdough...look it up.) Can't see the sights anymore, so scope it! Now its someone else's turn to take care of this. Have a look and email or call with any questions. CA sale OK. #494xx
