Winchester Model 1894: The Rifle That Rode the Range and the Last of the Great Tubulars
There are few things in American history more enduring than the lever-action rifle. It’s hard to picture the late 19th-century frontier without one slung over a saddle or tucked behind a door. And of all the lever-actions ever made, none earned quite the reputation—or built the legacy—that the Winchester Model 1894 did.
Designed by John Moses Browning, wasn’t just a product of its time. It was a product that helped define its time. By the 1890s, America was shifting. The frontier was closing, railroads were stretching across the plains, and the great cattle drives were beginning to wane. But even as barbed wire and telegraph poles stitched the wilderness into something more settled, the need for a reliable, versatile, fast-handling rifle hadn’t gone away. If anything, it had become more pressing.
Enter John Moses Browning!
The Model 1894, represented the pinnacle of the traditional Winchester form—a slim, lightning-fast, tubular-magazine saddle rifle that was as practical as it was enduring.
Built for the saddle, honed for the hunt!
Collectors and outdoorsmen alike often remark on how well the Model 1894 carries. And it’s no accident. The rifle was designed with the realities of life on the move in mind. The standard carbine version had a 20-inch round barrel and a full-length magazine tube—lightweight, compact, and easy to handle from horseback.

The Winchester Model 1894 is the long gun that 'Won The West', then stayed behind to watch over it, and after the dust settled and the buffalo herds thinned,
the 1894 became America’s go-to rifle for more peaceful pursuits—like hunting whitetail deer.
When Colt ceased their production of the Single Action Army in the early 1940s, No plans were in place to ever bring the old Colt SAA back; which left a couple generations of people who either grew up in the boom of the old west or younger ones who watched from a romanticized viewpoint from both the big and small screens, in the golden age of film and early days of television. Without any real world example, that they could easily go
somewhere in some shop to see or pick up.
Enter those creative, artistic Italians and their love affair with all things cowboy! From the famous "Spaghetti Western" films to
reimagineering of their version of
the 'INFAMOUS' Peacemaker!
Cimarron/ Uberti brings us their amazing rendition,
US Artillery .45LC, 5.5" Standard Blue, SAA 1890s Style Peacemaker Western Revolver.
I
n the early 1890s the U.S. Army began issuing double-action revolvers in .38 Colt caliber, and was retiring the 1873 single actions. However, because of the underperformance of the somewhat anemic .38 Colt loading during the Spanish American War of 1898 and the Philippines Insurrection, many officers and men clamored for the return of the older, more powerful .45s. The older single-actions were in need of refurbishing, so they were returned to the factory and to Springfield Arsenal where the work was accomplished, including cutting the barrels from 7 1/2 inches to 5 1/2 inches. Because many were issued to artillery batteries, modern-day collectors have coined the term "Artillery Models" to these reissue arms. In 1898, the First Volunteer Cavalry, a colorful unit of cowboys and other adventurous young men was formed, with veteran Indian fighter Col. Leonard Wood in command and Lt. Col. Theodore Roosevelt second in command. Recruited in a San Antonio bar and trained at Camp Wood in Texas in 1898, "Teddy" Roosevelt's "Rough Riders" would carry over 100 of these Artillery models when they bravely charged up San Juan Hill in Cuba.
With that kind of inspiration, Cimarron had to make one for their antique collection and so they did! Available in Standard Blue or Original Finish, perfectly detailed in every way, the US Artillery Model even bears the government inspector Rinaldo A. Carr's cartouche and all martial markings, including the U.S. stamped frame, just like those reissued guns that went on to see service into the early years of the 20th century.
Webster L. Marble came to Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the early 1890's and quickly gained the reputation of being one of the region's finest "timber cruisers". His uncanny ability to look at a specific forested acreage
and predict the board foot yield made him very popular with many logging companies in the area. Marble loved the outdoors and
the vast Upper Peninsula offered innumerable opportunities to hunt, fish, camp and explore the environment. It was these opportunities that made Marblr a houshold name and since 1898, from what began as a modest one-room manufacturing facility grew into a legacy that has spanned decades and given hunters, campers and fisherman durable, higfh quality knives, axes, outdoor equiptment and so much more.
And today you can have your very own Marble CampCraft knife. Perfect for camp or trail. This beaufitul piece of Marble history, is used and in amzing condition, in its original box with sheath.
Marble's Campcraft 2000, Gladstone-made fixed-blade knife featuring a stag handle, aluminum pommel, and a ~4.5-inch carbon steel clip point blade.
