Antique WINCHESTER Model 1887 Lever Action SHOTGUN Popular Coach and Law Enforcement Gun
Description: Antique WINCHESTER Model 1887 Lever Action SHOTGUN Popular Coach and Law Enforcement Gun Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1887 Lever Action Shotgun, made circa 1890 in New Haven, Connecticut. This model saw just under 65,000 made, and those under serial number 63953 are made prior to 1899. These guns were designed by the famous John Moses Browning and are considered the first successful lever action shotgun. Unfortunately, they were fast eclipsed by pump action shotguns. They came in both 10 and 12 gauges, and full lengths of 30-32 inch barrels and “riot” length of 20 inches. The riot length version is considerably scarcer. As one can imagine, these higher capacity shotguns, especially those either made shorter at the factory or cut down, made great companions for those on guard duty, riding shotgun on a coach, and for law enforcement. Perhaps other, more nefarious characters also found them useful. Of course, who can forget the short, pistol-gripped version that the Terminator used? The overall condition is good. The iron parts have a gray/brown patina. The markings are mostly legible. The walnut stock shows lots of use. The butt plate has been lightly textured by hand. The bore is in fair shape, mostly bright with some pinpricking throughout. The action remains strong. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel: 26 inches. Caliber: 12 gauge LOP: 12-3/4 inches Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1250 #191019 SOLD Antique: Yes |
