Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle 30-30 Win w/ 20" barrel - Wyoming Centennial Limited Edition Commemorative - Engraved (signed by Engraver)
Description:
* * * SALE PENDING * * *
This is a fantastic sample of a limited edition Winchester Model 1894 made by Winchester for the Wyoming Centennial. Unlike some commemoratives that are done by a third-party, the Wyoming Centennial was done by Winchester's factory and sold exclusively through Cherry's Fine Guns. The stock and forend is fancy American walnut and finished with a satin (not glossy) varnish. Handsomely checkered in Winchester's spade style, the checkering itself was oil-filled to highlight the walnut's fancy grain. The receiver and barrel bands are done in a fine "coin" finish. The thing I like best about it is that there is no gawdy gold on the gun!
As you can see from the pictures, the receiver is engraved on both sides. The engraving is well done and depicts scenes that are historically significant in Wyoming. On the left side of the receiver you'll find a running herd of buffalo in the foreground with the Grand Teton mountains in the background. The right side of the receiver features two engraved banners that read "1890-1990" and "Wyoming Centennial". The remainder of the receiver features a detailed scene of a Wyoming cowboy breaking a bronco and beautiful engravings of national landmark Devil's Tower and of the lower falls of the Yellowstone River. All three engravings are tastefully connected with a border of modified style vine scroll engraving.
Regardless of whether you are sentimental about the Wyoming Centennial, or whether you could care less, it is simply a beautiful rifle! IMHO, it is one of the prettiest commemoratives ever done. It is defnitely a tasteful celebration of the Wyoming Centennial and one of John Browning's most popular rifle designs.
