Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring .38 WCF caliber carbine. Manufactured in 1903. Bore is perfect and mirror bright. This is a half magazine saddle ring carbine. Barrel length 20” in .38-40 caliber. This carbine has been expertly case colored on the receiver, lever, hammer and butt plate. Action works smoothly. The stocks have very good varnish. In our opinion the forend is original while the butt stock is what is referred to as gum wood, which is a factory type wood that Winchester used in guns later than 1903. So, this is factory wood replacing the original Walnut (as the forend is original walnut). The butt stock has a rectangular wood inlay probably to replace a presentation plaque? This is a neat Model 1892 with 90% of the original blue. You can enjoy it as it is or get a replacement walnut stock. Either way, a fine Model 1892 in a Special Order configuration with the 20” barrel, half magazine and saddle rings.
