*Sale Pending* - INTERESTING WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 SRC IN 44 WCF
Description:
Standard 20 inch carbine configuration chambered in the desirable 44 WCF caliber with a bright shiny near excellent bore. There are some light scattered dents in magazine tube. Sights include a pinned blade front and a carbine folding ladder rear. All metal surfaces have been refinished and retain most of that finish. Stocks have been lightly sanded and are a little shy at the wrist and buttplate. Smooth functioning action. This Winchester SRC was made in 1919. The interesting thing about this carbine is the crude stamping on the left side of the frame that looks like a Pine Tree. There is also a Century Arms import mark on the lower tang.
Records show that some of these carbines came back to America from Argentina. This inspection mark on the left side of the receiver looks like a tree without leaves and was applied by FMAP (Fabrica Militar de Armas Portailes). The same source mentioned that FMAP refurbished some of those Winchesters in the 1950's and that 40 of those were originally purchased for the Argentine Railway Police. This mark might be related to the guns of the Argentine Railway. This information came from an article written in the Summer 2023 Winchester Collector magazine.
