HIGH CONDITION, INVESTMENT QUALITY 1894 SEMI-DELUXE TAKEDOWN RIFLE IN RARE .32-40 CALIBER
Description: HIGH CONDITION, INVESTMENT QUALITY 1894 SEMI-DELUXE TAKEDOWN RIFLE IN RARE .32-40 CALIBER. This one with serial number 337244 was made in 1907 and features a 26" half octagon barrel with half magazine, checkered pistol grip with correct Winchester embossed grip cap and matching checkered forend. Interestingly, most pistol grip 1894s have shotgun butts while this one has the curved crescent butt plate, making this rifle even more unusual. The matching stock and forearm retain most of the finish with sharp checkering on both as well as tight wood to metal fit. The receiver retains excellent bright blue with only a little dulling on the bottom by the serial number and has excellent screw heads. Exc. blue on the bolt, receiver ring, bolt etc. The barrel also retains fine blue with a very small spot of pitting just ahead of the receiver probably from a bloody finger tip that caused some rust that could probably be cleaned up a bit- fairly minor either way. The forend cap also shows good blue. This one is fitted with a Lyman tang sight, a filler in the rear sight dovetail made from bone (?) and a Lyman folding globe Beach front sight. There is good case color on the lever sides with the left side a bit brighter. The bore is bright with some light roughness about mid way in the barrel that should brush out better. Very few pistol grip '94s were made in .32-40 which was the least produced caliber in the entire line. Beautiful appearance. overall.
