MODEL 65 IN RARE .32-20 CALIBER, #1006XXX, ONLY MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 1933-1943
Description: MODEL 65 IN RARE .32-20 CALIBER, #1006XXX, ONLY MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 1933-1943. Introduced during one of the worst years of the Great Depression and discontinued because of World War II, the Model 65 is seldom seen today. In the first 5 years of production (1933 through 1937) only 842 Models were made. More were made from 1938-1943, but the largest production year was 1938 with 1,122 Model 65s produced. In total only 5,704 were made, making this one of the more difficult models to obtain. Additionally, breaking down the model by calibers we get 1,502 in .25-20; 1,277 in .32-20 and 2,549 in .218 Bee...and that's it. The least produced was the .32-20. I'm guessing some of these rifles were condemned as the numbers add up to a little over the 5,704 that were supposedly made in total. This example is in superb overall condition. It retains nearly all of the original deep blue on the receiver, barrel, forend cap, lever and butt plate etc. There is one tiny spot of shallow pitting that was lightly cleaned on the top edge of the receiver on the left side middle. It could probably be touched up to about disappear, but it is there- again a tiny edge spot. There is also a touch of muzzle wear and some front and back wear on the butt plate. Personally, I like to see some honest wear as these days if a firearm looks "too good" it very well may be. Complete with buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and hooded front sight. Untouched screws, stock and forend about perfect with very tight wood to metal fit. Tight action and perfect bore. A rare Winchester model in the least produced caliber in great condition! SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .32-20 Winchester Manufacturer: WINCHESTER Model: MODEL 65 Barrel Length: 22 Condition: NEAR NEW Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
